Hello, I'm Adam Holt, artist, sculptor, filmmaker and creator of The Sculpt Factory..

Thank you for clocking in for some over time...

This place really wouldn't run the same without you!

On discovering this blog you probably follow The sculpt factory on Instagram or YouTube, and with that you will know a little bit about what I'm doing, and what the Sculpt Factory is all about.. or not... I've just started this experiment with the sculpt Factory and haven't given much away yet.. this blog will be an attempt to explain a little bit more about the Sculpt Factory and the world in which it exists in; 'The FaKeTriX'.

Enter The FaKeTriX..

Over the years I have been a stop motion animator, a filmmaker, a rapper, a sculptor and pretty much anything else I can play with.. These days I simply call myself an artist, as I feel I'm now incorporating everything I've played with and learned over the years into a large scale social-media based experiment that I'm calling The FaKeTriX.

The Idea is informed by multiple idea's and frustrations, both with my own practice, the art world and even society as a whole.. George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars once said in an interview that “A filmmaker is just someone who has a fetish with making the world the way they want it to be, sort of narcissistic.. All directors, all directors are vaguely like emperors, which is, I want to build a society to reflect me and what I want”. Which I believe runs true for all artists.. in so many words.. all artists are dictators to some degree.

With this latest experiment of mine, I definitely feel this more than ever.. I'm playing with the 'world' in which my art exists.. it's 'fictatious reality' - a fictional world that rubs shoulders with reality.. I've started creating my own laws, businesses and even religions, all based on my artwork over the past 2 and a half years whilst studying my Sculpture degree, and also some ideas and characters from before that have made their way in too..

Welcome To The Sculpt factory..

The Sculpt Factory is a main hub within the FaKeTriX, it stems from my frustration with not being able to make a living as an artist, and especially in this Covid, and post Covid world, where even less people will have that 'spare' money to spend on art.. I began looking at ways in which I could make a living as an artist without having to rely on the sales of my art work.. fictionally I dreamt about a 9-5 job in which I go to a workplace like any other job to create the art work I want to create, and the dulling realisation that no body ever hires fine artists directly to create the art that the artists want to create.. these type of freedoms exist in residencies etc.. but not as a full time stable job... you can get hired as an artist to work on other products, but not to develop your own practice..

The Sculpt Factory is a real space that exists in a fictional land. The products that are produced in the Sculpt Factory are art works and sculptures made by myself, but are portrayed as products designed by fake companies within The FaKeTriX, who hire the Sculpt Factory to manufacture their 'products'.

Every body on the internet is FAKE..

I have a theory that by being honest about being completely fake, we can be more real than most of the stuff we see on the internet...

The FaKeTriX is a fake world, The sculpt factory doesn't really exist, the employee's don't exist, the companies and products are fake, but the art is real, join me on my narrative based journey to discover truths in a fictional world.
